³⁵ Jehu rested with his ancestors and was buried in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son succeeded him as king.

¹³ he met some relatives of Ahaziah king of Judah and asked, “Who are you?”

They said, “We are relatives of Ahaziah,^(A) and we have come down to greet the families of the king and of the queen mother.^(B)”

¹⁴ “Take them alive!” he ordered. So they took them alive and slaughtered them by the well of Beth Eked—forty-two of them. He left no survivor.^(A)

¹⁷ After Amaziah king of Judah consulted his advisers, he sent this challenge to Jehoash^[a] son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel: “Come, let us face each other in battle.”

²⁵ Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel.
